Operational Technology Technician – OT/FMS

About the role

Thiess is seeking a motivated Operational Technology (OT) / Fleet Management System (FMS) Technician to join the Mount Pleasant operation. This residential, 4 × 12‑hour day‑shift role supports the installation, maintenance and upgrade of smart‑machine and digital infrastructure across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with installations on new mining machines and OT equipment.
• Respond to OT system breakdowns and outages, performing repairs during machine overhauls.
• Carry out system upgrades and monitor site digital radio, solar and battery storage, wireless, GPS and camera networks.
• Maintain documentation for all OT systems and collaborate with planning to optimise resource use.
• Build relationships with equipment OEMs such as Ivolve, CAT and Liebherr.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Electrical (with Open cabling licence) or a related trade (Auto electrician, Electronics & Communications) with strong FMS and networking experience.
• Ability to work independently on a residential roster and travel to site as required.

Required skills

• Open cabling licence
• Electrical, auto‑electrical or electronics & communications qualification
• Experience with Fleet Management Systems (e.g., Ivolve Mine 4D, Modular, Hexagon)
• Knowledge of Trimble GPS and high‑precision positioning
• Proficiency with cabled and wireless networks – Ubiquiti, Cambium, Mesh DAMM, Sepura digital radio
• Solar and battery storage management systems
• Site camera system maintenance
