Product Engineer

About the role

3M is looking for a Product Engineer to join its manufacturing plant in Perth, Ontario. The role supports new product introductions (NPI) and redesign/improvement of existing products, focusing on raw material integration, SKU setup, regulatory compliance, and process experimentation.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and oversee programs to improve safety, quality, and cost.
• Provide daily engineering support to optimize plant safety, quality, service, and cost.
• Lead process and productivity improvement projects.
• Conduct experiments on process equipment to validate capabilities and product performance.
• Support NPI programs and act as liaison between the lab and manufacturing facility.
• Identify and implement cost‑of‑goods‑sold (COGS) reduction and yield improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (completed before start date).
• Familiarity with extrusion technologies, including material handling, compounding, non‑woven web forming, and coating.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in automation and industrial processes.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
• Proven project‑management experience.
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time and a valid driver’s license.
