Navy Doctor – Medical Officer with Travel Opportunities

About the role

The Australian Navy is seeking qualified doctors to deliver comprehensive medical care to service personnel both at sea and on shore. You will work in fully equipped facilities alongside nursing, administrative and allied health teams, supporting the health and wellbeing of Navy members and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary, emergency and occupational health services to Navy personnel aboard ships and at shore establishments.
• Conduct medical assessments, diagnose conditions, and deliver appropriate treatment plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary health teams to ensure high‑quality patient care.
• Participate in health promotion, disease prevention and fitness programs.
• Maintain accurate medical records and comply with AHPRA regulations.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and at least 17 years of age at appointment.
• Eligibility for Defence University Sponsorship or graduate entry via AHPRA‑approved medical program.
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a medical practitioner.
• Willingness to serve in both ship‑board and shore‑based environments.

Required skills

• Medical practitioner registration with AHPRA.
• Clinical competence in general medicine and emergency care.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary military health team.
