Materials Handling/Logistics Technician

About the role

Microsoft is seeking a Materials Handling/Logistics Technician to support its Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) data centre in Canberra. You will manage inbound and outbound deliveries, perform cycle audits, and ensure accurate documentation of inventory movements while supporting warranty and data‑destruction processes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute cycle audits and handle incoming/outgoing deliveries.
• Coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors and document all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Initiate and process warranty claims, including packaging, shipping, and receipt of Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) devices.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records in inventory management systems, configuration management databases (CMDB) and asset repositories.
• Track physical inventory, stage items, and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Perform secure destruction of data‑bearing devices in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Required profile

• Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision, especially during high‑volume periods.
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of the impact of inventory and asset management activities.
• Effective communication with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
• Commitment to follow SLAs and security protocols.

Required skills

• Experience with inventory management systems and CMDB tools.
• Knowledge of warranty claim processes and RMA procedures.
• Familiarity with secure data‑bearing device destruction methods.
