Geologist

About the role

Aquila is seeking an experienced Geologist to join its permanent team at the Middlemount mine in Queensland. The role involves managing geological data, supporting drilling operations, and ensuring safe and efficient production.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update geological, geotechnical, borehole, coal quality, gas desorption and hydrogeological databases.
• Conduct regular underground longwall and development mapping, audit findings and report geological issues to management.
• Provide geological inputs for surface and underground drilling, interpret borehole data and assist with exploration planning.
• Support permit-to-mine documentation, including grade plans, fault plans and hazard assessments.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Geological Sciences or equivalent.
• Experience in underground mining operations (desirable).
• Strong planning, problem‑solving and strategic thinking abilities.
• Well‑developed communication and collaboration skills.

• AutoCAD
• Minex or similar geological software
• Spatial design and awareness
