Finance Systems Accountant

About the role

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established not-for-profit in the Melbourne CBD to find a Systems Accountant. The group is growing after a recent merger, and this role leads the finance systems side of that growth while owning core month-end and reporting. It is a 6 to 8 month contract with a clear intention to make the role permanent, combining project and day-to-day work in a purpose-driven organisation. The position is hybrid, with the option to work from home.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, dashboards and reports.
• Analyse revenue, costs, margins and KPIs, with commentary on variances.
• Build financial models and scenario analysis to support key decisions.
• Lead the annual budget and forecasts with budget owners, challenging assumptions and tracking performance.
• Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments, allocations and reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end close, audit and statutory reporting, and maintain audit-ready records.
• Support business cases, pricing, investment decisions and cost management.
• Improve reporting and finance processes through automation and better use of systems.
• Support system migrations and implementations, including data cleansing, UAT and go-live.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified, or close to completion.
• A track record in system implementation, data migration or entity integration.
• Solid month-end and consolidation experience across multiple entities.
• Confident working with senior stakeholders, system users and external vendors.
• Not-for-profit experience is a bonus but not essential.
