Finance Data Analyst

About the role

ABN Group, a residential property group active in building, property and home finance for over 45 years, is looking for a Finance Data Analyst to join its Finance Business Services team in the Docklands office in Melbourne. The role sits at the intersection of Finance, Data and Technology, working closely with the General Manager – Business Services to define how financial operations performance is measured, reported and understood. It involves building financial operations reporting in Power BI, SQL and D365, establishing KPI frameworks, improving data quality and finding ways to automate and simplify processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards
• Use SQL to query financial and operational data for reporting
• Build and maintain Power BI data models, Power Query transformations and DAX measures
• Gather stakeholder requirements and turn them into scalable reporting solutions
• Define and maintain KPI definitions, calculation logic and reporting requirements
• Analyse D365 F&O data and data flows to improve financial operations metrics
• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate reporting

Required profile

• Experienced data or reporting professional who understands both the detail and the business picture
• Comfortable working with Finance stakeholders and explaining complex data simply
• Experience in data analytics, finance reporting, business systems analysis, ERP reporting or a related field
• Practical understanding of finance data such as general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting

Required skills

• Strong SQL, including querying, reconciling, analysing and validating data
• Power BI, including Power Query, DAX and data modelling
• Building dashboards and reports from business requirements
• Integrating, cleansing, transforming and validating data from multiple sources
• Microsoft Fabric, Power Automate and modern Microsoft data technologies are highly regarded
