Executive Director – Economic Development & Employment

About the role

The Queensland Treasury is seeking an Executive Director to lead the Economic Development and Employment team within Industry Policy and Analytics. This senior position provides strategic advice to senior government officials and partners with industry, community and other government agencies to drive economic growth and job creation across Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑level, evidence‑based advice to the Under Treasurer, Treasurer, Cabinet and key stakeholders on complex policy and fiscal matters.
• Influence policy agendas and lead sector‑wide initiatives that align with government priorities.
• Partner with government departments, agencies, industry and community groups to foster innovation, continuous improvement and change.
• Represent Treasury in sensitive negotiations and manage influential networks.
• Manage, develop and sustain a high‑performing professional team, promoting a culture of flexibility, responsiveness and cost‑effectiveness.

Required profile

• Proven record in developing and implementing complex economic and public policy frameworks with strong political acumen.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence and bring a strategic lens to decision‑making across government.
• Experience as an inspiring leader in a large, complex organisation, driving change and fostering innovation.
• Outstanding judgement, integrity, ethics, probity and excellent communication skills.
