Enterprise Data Engineer (12‑month contract)

About the role

This contract position is for an experienced Enterprise Data Engineer who will ensure the reliability and efficiency of the agency's data platforms. Working in a business‑as‑usual operational support environment, you will maintain critical data assets, respond to daily data requests, and continuously improve data pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day operation of enterprise data platforms, including daily data delivery and month‑end processing.
• Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL and ETL processes and enterprise data pipelines.
• Troubleshoot operational data issues and ensure reliable data availability.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to enhance existing data solutions.
• Conduct code reviews, maintain technical documentation, and contribute to engineering standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering enterprise data warehouse and integration solutions.
• Strong SQL development skills, including optimisation and tuning.
• Experience with at least two of the following platforms: Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks.
• Programming experience in SQL and languages such as Python, SAS, R or Java.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, version control and modern software delivery methods.
• Experience with AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue) is highly regarded.
• Background in Agile environments and relevant tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science or Data Science is advantageous.
