Employment Relations Specialist

About the role

Unitywater is looking for an Employment Relations Specialist to support a fair, consistent and positive employee experience across the business. You will partner with leaders and HR Business Partners on complex employee matters, including performance, conduct, grievances and workplace investigations, and help prepare for upcoming Enterprise Agreement negotiations. This is an initial 6-month full-time contractor role, based at either Mango Hill or Maroochydore.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and manage complex employee relations matters
• Support preparations for upcoming Enterprise Agreement negotiations
• Partner with leaders to build capability and foster a fair workplace
• Work with HR Business Partners and senior leaders in the People, Safety and Governance team

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Employment Relations or a related discipline
• At least five years' experience in an HR, Employee Relations or Industrial Relations advisory role, ideally in a unionised, blue and white collar environment
• Experience managing complex employee relations matters end to end, including performance, conduct, disciplinary matters, grievances, complaints and workplace conflict
• Experience leading formal processes such as show cause, disciplinary, performance management and outcomes
• Experience in workplace investigations, including information gathering, interviewing, analysis and reporting
• Confident communicator and trusted adviser able to coach and influence leaders
• Current C class driver's licence

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of employment legislation, enterprise agreements, employment contracts, policies and procedures
• Ability to interpret and apply these in practice
• Sound judgement, analytical skills and commitment to procedural fairness and confidentiality
