Director of Trade & Investment – Vietnam

About the role

TIQ is seeking a senior leader to head its trade and investment programme in Vietnam. Reporting to the Queensland Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner – Southeast Asia, the Director will champion Queensland’s export and investment interests across the Vietnamese market.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a Vietnam‑based team to deliver Queensland’s trade and investment strategy, meeting defined export and investment targets.
• Identify, promote and facilitate trade and investment opportunities for Queensland businesses in priority sectors.
• Design and execute market‑entry and engagement strategies, building high‑value relationships with Vietnamese companies and government bodies.
• Promote Queensland as an attractive destination for foreign direct investment, engaging C‑suite executives and senior investors.
• Oversee investor after‑care for existing Vietnamese investors in Queensland and attract new priority investments.
• Represent TIQ at senior corporate and government forums, securing strategic commercial opportunities.
• Develop and maintain networks with senior decision‑makers, industry leaders and peak bodies in both Australia and Vietnam.
• Coordinate collaboration across government agencies, research institutions and policy groups to forge strategic partnerships.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in international trade, investment promotion or related government/industry roles.
• Deep knowledge of the Vietnamese market and its business environment.
• Strong commercial judgment and ability to deliver measurable export outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills with senior officials and corporate leaders.
• Track record of managing and developing high‑performing teams.
