Day Surgery Scrub/Anaesthetic Nurse

About the role

Genea, an Australian provider of infertility treatments with more than 35 years of experience, is seeking an experienced full-time Scrub/Anaesthetic Day Surgery Nurse for its CBD clinic. The nurse ensures safe and efficient pre-, peri- and post-operative care of patients in the Day Surgery.

Key responsibilities

• Patient admission, screening and pre-operative preparation
• Assist doctors with treatment in the procedure room
• Provide safe and effective recovery care, escalating for clinical review when needed
• Patient discharge, including assessment of readiness and issuing post-operative instructions and medications
• Handle specimens, medications, antibiotics and blood products safely where applicable
• Assist with day-to-day activities of the day surgery as required

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Anaesthetic Nurse in Day Surgery (mandatory)
• Ideally experience as a Scrub/Anaesthetic Nurse
• Registered Nurse/Midwife with AHPRA registration (mandatory)
• Working with Children's Check (mandatory)
• Experience in reproductive and female health, infertility or IVF procedures preferred
• Specialized Scrub/Anaesthetic training, and ideally a postgraduate certificate or diploma in Peri-anesthetic Nursing, or a graduate certificate in Perioperative (Scrub/Scout) or Anaesthesia and Recovery Nursing
• Training in anaesthetic techniques, monitoring and recovery care, and hospital-based perioperative programs preferred
