Crown Prosecutor – Senior Professional Officer 2 (Darwin)

About the role

The Director of Public Prosecutions in the Northern Territory is seeking an experienced criminal lawyer to join the team as a Crown Prosecutor. This senior position involves providing expert legal advice and representing the prosecution in complex criminal matters across all NT courts and the High Court of Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on complex prosecutions and evidence matters.
• Represent the prosecution in jury trials, summary prosecutions, appeals and related court proceedings.
• Prepare and present cases before all courts of the Northern Territory and the High Court of Australia.
• Advise on criminal and evidence law issues and support senior prosecution strategy.

Required profile

• Admitted or eligible for admission as a barrister or solicitor of the High Court of Australia or a State/Territory Supreme Court.
• Demonstrated experience in jury trials and extensive knowledge of criminal and evidence law.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical abilities.
