Chief Experience Officer

About the role

The Chief Experience Officer will serve as the organisation’s chief storyteller, overseeing Queensland Museum’s state‑wide Experience Portfolio. Reporting to the CEO, this executive will shape how millions of visitors engage with the museum’s exhibitions, events, digital platforms and commercial initiatives, especially as Brisbane prepares for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of audience and experience strategies that boost visitation, revenue and brand profile.
• Oversee all aspects of the Experience Portfolio, including exhibitions, destination events, visitor experience, audience engagement, digital platforms, marketing and commercial growth.
• Drive transformational storytelling across physical and digital touchpoints.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across government, cultural partners and commercial sponsors.
• Manage large, multidisciplinary teams in a complex public‑facing environment.

Required profile

• Proven senior executive experience delivering high‑impact, creatively ambitious and commercially successful audience experiences.
• Strategic vision with the ability to translate cultural narratives into measurable growth.
• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams within public sector or cultural institutions.
