Associate Electrical Designer – Rail & Metro

About the role

The Associate Electrical Designer will join SMEC's Rail & Metro team to lead the electrical design, coordination and delivery of major rail transport infrastructure projects across Brisbane and nationally. You will work in a flexible, collaborative environment that encourages innovation and supports professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed designs for rail projects using AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks and Revizto.
• Ensure all design work complies with Australian standards, client requirements and SMEC technical guidelines.
• Maintain effective internal and external relationships, contributing to strong client management.
• Collaborate proactively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to guarantee quality, timeliness and coordination of deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers, supporting their professional development.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Advanced Diploma.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in an engineering design consultancy, preferably within transport infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of Australian standards and local regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Relevant Australian working rights.
