Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technician

About the role

A recruiter is seeking experienced Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Technicians from Australia and around the world for long-term, full-time positions with reputable Australian employers. Clients need skilled technicians with practical experience in HVAC and refrigeration systems, especially in commercial and industrial settings, covering installation, servicing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, diagnostics, fault-finding and repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service, maintain, diagnose and repair air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Diagnose faults and repair or replace components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, controls and associated equipment.
• Install, repair and maintain refrigerant pipework, cutting, bending, brazing and connecting it as required.
• Carry out pressure tests, find and repair leaks, evacuate systems and recover and charge refrigerant in line with requirements.
• Test, commission, adjust and balance systems, and carry out scheduled preventative maintenance.
• Read technical drawings, schematics, specifications and manufacturer documentation.
• Maintain service reports, fault records and maintenance documentation.
• Provide professional service to commercial, industrial and domestic customers, following workplace health and safety requirements and refrigeration regulations, and supporting or mentoring apprentices and junior technicians where required.

Required profile

• Recognised trade qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Refrigeration or an equivalent HVAC&R discipline.
• Strong practical experience as a qualified technician.
• Experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC&R environments is highly regarded.
• Willingness to relocate within Australia, depending on the job location, and ability to meet employer requirements such as drug and alcohol testing where applicable.

Required skills

• Fault-finding, diagnostics, servicing and repairs.
• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, refrigerant handling and components.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment specifications.
• Good communication and customer service skills, and a commitment to safety, quality and professional workmanship.
