Senior Intelligence Officer

About the role

The Senior Intelligence Officer joins the Digital Intelligence and Community Engagement Team within Queensland Police Service’s Crime Command. The role supports frontline operations across the state, manages the QDesk function, and leads open‑source and social‑media intelligence activities.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, research, analyse and develop strategic intelligence options on major crime and community safety issues.
• Prepare timely briefs, submissions, notes and correspondence for senior managers.
• Represent the Intelligence Capability at inter‑departmental and inter‑governmental meetings.
• Collaborate with government, non‑government agencies and industry partners to achieve intelligence outcomes.
• Lead coordination, collaboration and industry engagement initiatives within the intelligence capability.
• Provide accurate, evidence‑based information and education on strategic intelligence processes.
• Utilise technology to enhance open‑source and social‑media intelligence supporting organisational priorities.
• Manage the QDesk team to deliver daily intelligence reports to frontline staff.

Required profile

• Knowledge of online intelligence collection techniques is highly regarded.
• Willingness to work at any location where intelligence capability is required.
• Completion of Queensland Police Service intelligence training and psychometric assessment.
• Eligibility for Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
• Ability to work shift patterns, including afternoons, weekends and nights.
• Resilience to exposure to graphic and sensitive material.
