Security Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Security Subject Matter Expert to join our client’s Melbourne team on a contract basis. This operational role focuses on real‑world production environments, covering Windows, Linux and cloud platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the go‑to security and operations SME for Windows, Linux and Microsoft cloud services.
• Perform platform hardening, patching, standards compliance and day‑to‑day support.
• Support BAU operations and resolve incidents, from simple issues to complex security faults.
• Troubleshoot network problems end‑to‑end, including identity and access challenges.
• Administer and secure Linux OS environments, managing access, updates and troubleshooting.
• Maintain Microsoft GSA configurations and policies.
• Manage Azure tenants with a focus on security and operational stability.
• Collaborate with network, infrastructure and security teams to deliver lasting solutions.
• Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 6‑10 years of experience in fast‑paced operational security environments.
• Strong Linux administration and security background.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft GSA and Azure tenant management.
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, especially Conditional Access and identity controls.
• Proven ability to handle incidents, escalations and complex troubleshooting.
• Solid networking fundamentals.
