Neurosurgeon – General & Subspecialty (Victoria, BC)

About the role

The Division of Neurosurgery at Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a full‑time neurosurgeon to join a team of six colleagues in Victoria, BC. The successful candidate will provide general neurosurgical care, on‑call trauma coverage, and develop an elective subspecialty practice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general neurosurgery on‑call service (approximately 1:7 call frequency) and manage neurosurgical trauma cases.
• Perform elective surgeries in cerebrovascular disease, neuro‑oncology, endovascular care, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) disorder management.
• Manage degenerative spine conditions or complex spinal disorders, including oncology, infection, fractures, and reconstruction.
• Participate in resident teaching through the UBC Neurosurgery Division and medical‑student teaching via the Island Medical Program.
• Contribute to academic activities and may hold an appointment through the University of British Columbia.

Required profile

• Royal College certification and full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
• Completed recognized fellowship in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery.
• Completed recognized fellowship in complex spinal reconstruction.
• Competence in managing degenerative spine conditions or complex spinal pathology.
• Familiarity with spinal navigation and robotics is preferred.
