Manager – Asset Accounting

About the role

Greater Western Water is seeking a senior leader to modernise and oversee asset accounting across the organisation. You will drive consistent capitalisation and labour allocation frameworks while ensuring robust financial governance for the investment and asset lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing Asset Accounting team.
• Provide financial governance over total investment spend (TOTEX) throughout the asset lifecycle.
• Embed consistent application of capitalisation practices across the organisation.
• Develop and review labour rate and allocation methodologies.
• Strengthen Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) and asset capitalisation processes.
• Maintain the integrity of the fixed‑asset register and related financial reporting.
• Offer practical accounting advice to business stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement and modernisation of asset accounting processes and systems.
• Support financial, regulatory, and audit reporting requirements.

Required profile

• CPA/CA membership – essential.
• Extensive experience in asset accounting within a complex organisation.
• Proven leadership ability with a track record of driving team performance and organisational change.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Experience in utilities, infrastructure or public‑sector environments is highly regarded.

• Strong knowledge of capitalisation and financial accounting standards.
• Expertise in developing labour allocation and rate methodologies.
• Ability to maintain and reconcile a fixed‑asset register.
• Proficiency in supporting regulatory and audit reporting processes.
