Locum Pain Clinic Physician

About the role

The Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a qualified locum physician to staff its pain clinic within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department in Victoria. This temporary position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in a multidisciplinary academic environment while contributing to the education of medical students and residents.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive pain assessment, diagnosis, and management to adult patients in a tertiary‑care setting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across two hospital sites to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Participate in teaching activities, including bedside instruction and seminars for medical students and residents.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to provincial licensing and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in a primary specialty (or equivalent).
• Completed accredited fellowship in chronic pain.
• Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

Required skills

• Expertise in chronic pain evaluation and multimodal treatment strategies.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and patient communication abilities.
