Locum Emergency Medicine Physician – Victoria, BC

About the role

The South Island Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking qualified Emergency Medicine Physicians for locum coverage across major hospitals in Victoria, British Columbia. You will join a large, supportive team delivering full‑service emergency care, including pediatrics and trauma, to facilities handling roughly 60,000 visits annually.

Key responsibilities

• Provide acute emergency medical assessment and treatment across all patient age groups.
• Manage pediatric emergencies and high‑acuity trauma cases.
• Cover scheduled shifts on a locum basis, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in high‑volume emergency departments.
• Adhere to provincial medical standards and departmental protocols.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or board‑eligible Emergency Medicine physician.
• Eligibility to practice medicine in British Columbia.
• Experience in a busy emergency department, preferably with pediatric and trauma exposure.
• Flexibility to start as soon as possible and work variable shift patterns.
