Legal Counsel – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

Join Aurecon’s Legal & Governance team as a Legal Counsel on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work on diverse infrastructure and consultancy projects, providing legal and governance expertise to help deliver sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on Aurecon’s project engagements, including contract review, negotiation and dispute management.
• Provide legal, risk and governance advice to senior leadership and the broader business.
• Collaborate with client project teams and internal stakeholders across projects and enterprise functions.
• Deliver training on legal and governance matters to Aurecon employees.

Required profile

• Admission to practice law in NSW or Victoria with 6‑9 years post‑qualification experience, ideally spanning private practice and in‑house roles.
• Broad experience in consultancy services, advisory or infrastructure engagements, M&A due diligence, transaction agreements, financial services compliance, and cyber, data and AI requirements.
• Proven ability to simplify complex issues and work with multiple stakeholders in a fast‑paced, matrix organisation.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Commercially pragmatic approach combined with excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
