Lecturer – Mining Innovation

About the role

The Western Australian School of Mines is seeking a forward‑thinking Lecturer to join its Kalgoorlie campus. You will teach and mentor students in mining engineering while contributing to cutting‑edge research that links theory with real‑world mine‑site deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and continuously improve undergraduate and postgraduate units in mining, focusing on automation, robotics and modern mining systems.
• Conduct engaging lectures, tutorials and practical sessions that equip students with industry‑relevant technical expertise.
• Supervise honours and higher‑degree research projects, fostering academic excellence and industry readiness.
• Lead field‑based experimental programs, operational technology trials and translate research outcomes into practice.
• Collaborate with industry partners and secure external research funding to keep teaching and research aligned with mining challenges.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent experience in mining engineering, mine automation or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at university level and supervise research students.
• Strong record of industry engagement and collaborative research.
• Willingness to relocate to Kalgoorlie and participate in on‑site activities.
