Judicial Registrar – Family Law

About the role

The Judicial Registrar – Family Law will perform delegated judicial functions across multiple Australian courts, supporting case management, dispute resolution and the delivery of key reform initiatives. The role is pivotal in ensuring efficient operation of family law matters and contributing to national projects such as the Lighthouse Project and PPP Cases.

Key responsibilities

• Preside over duty lists, interlocutory disputes and conduct conciliation conferences in property and parenting matters.
• Manage case triage and risk‑based case management across the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
• Lead and support national reform initiatives, including the Expanded Lighthouse Project and the National Contraventions List.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policy and court‑wide procedures.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on registrar practice and may undertake regional circuit duties.

Required profile

• Qualified legal practitioner with substantial experience in family law.
• Demonstrated ability to perform judicial functions and manage complex litigation.
• Strong understanding of court reform and policy development.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
