HR Director – Strategic People Leader

About the role

The HR Director will act as a strategic partner to the Managing Director, shaping the people agenda for dnata Australia. Based in Sydney, this senior leader will drive HR strategies that support business growth, operational excellence and a high‑performing culture across all airport service functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a people strategy aligned with long‑term business objectives.
• Partner with senior leaders on organisational effectiveness, workforce planning and succession management.
• Lead talent acquisition, performance management, learning & development, reward, engagement and culture initiatives.
• Advise the Managing Director and Executive Team on leadership, organisational design and people matters.
• Oversee employee and industrial relations, including union negotiations and compliance with Australian employment legislation.
• Drive workforce productivity, retention, capability development and employee engagement.
• Lead HR transformation projects such as process optimisation, digitalisation and people analytics.
• Provide workforce insights and reporting to support strategic decision‑making and mitigate people‑related risks.
• Coach and develop a high‑performing HR team delivering business partnership and HR services.
• Champion the One dnata people strategy and embed the company’s Vision, Mission and Values.

Required profile

• Extensive senior HR leadership experience, preferably within a large, multi‑site operation.
• Proven ability to influence senior executives and drive organisational change.
• Deep knowledge of Australian employment law, industrial relations and HR best practices.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in HR metrics and people analytics.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
