About the role

The Gardens and Grounds Instructor will lead horticultural operations at Greenough Regional Prison, ensuring the care and maintenance of gardens, production areas, and related facilities. This full‑time, permanent position offers the chance to mentor both staff and offenders, fostering skill development in a secure, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute daily horticultural activities, including planting, pruning, and harvesting.
• Maintain garden and production area infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols.
• Supervise and train staff and participating offenders in horticultural techniques and workplace safety.
• Monitor plant health, pest control, and irrigation systems, adjusting practices as needed.
• Prepare reports on garden performance, resource usage, and progress of training programs.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Certificate III in Horticulture or an equivalent qualification.
• Valid First Aid certification (HLTAID011) or willingness to obtain before start date.
• Ability to work in a secure correctional environment, adhering to strict safety and security standards.
