Director of People and Culture

About the role

The Director of People and Culture will lead all human‑resources, training and industrial‑relations functions for a landmark hospitality precinct in Perth. This senior position shapes culture, attracts talent and ensures compliance with Australian labour law.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the overall People and Culture strategy.
• Oversee recruitment, selection and onboarding across the State Buildings portfolio.
• Manage employee‑relations matters, fostering open communication and an inclusive environment.
• Lead performance‑management processes and professional development initiatives.
• Design and implement a comprehensive training and development plan.
• Ensure all HR policies comply with relevant legislation and are consistently applied.
• Handle industrial‑relations issues, including negotiations, dispute resolution and liaison with external legal counsel.
• Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to the People and Culture team and senior managers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a strategic HR/People role within the Australian hospitality industry.
• Australian tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of the Fair Work Act, Australian industrial instruments and employment legislation.
• Track record of managing complex industrial‑relations and employee‑relations matters.
• Ability to partner effectively with senior leadership.
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities.
