About the role
Minor Hotels is seeking a commercially driven and strategic Director of MICE to lead and grow its Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. The role will be accountable for driving revenue performance, strengthening key partnerships and positioning the company’s properties as premier MICE destinations.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual MICE sales plans across the portfolio, aligned with market trends and business objectives.
- Analyse market conditions, tourism forecasts and sales mix to identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and adjust strategies to maintain competitive positioning.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Revenue and F&B teams to evaluate performance and re‑forecast.
- Lead the launch and positioning of new properties within the MICE market.
- Work with global MICE teams to strengthen international targeting and sales strategies.
- Build and manage partnerships with PCOs, corporate clients and industry stakeholders.
- Drive MICE initiatives such as rewards programmes and supplier partnerships.
- Deliver regular performance reporting (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual).
- Grow MICE‑related revenue across rooms, conferencing and F&B.
- Maintain and expand business from key accounts while developing new client opportunities.
- Analyse forward bookings and implement strategies to optimise occupancy and conference utilisation.
- Collaborate with Revenue Managers, General Managers and Sales teams to maximise opportunities.
- Represent the business at trade shows, industry events and networking opportunities.
- Ensure sales materials, contracts and databases are current, accurate and accessible.
Required profile
- Commercially driven and strategic mindset.
- Proven experience leading high‑performing MICE sales teams.
- Strong track record of revenue generation in the hospitality or events sector.
- Ability to build and sustain relationships with corporate clients, PCOs and industry partners.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret market data and forecast trends.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for trade shows and stakeholder meetings.
