Construction Manager – Water Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Construction Manager to lead and grow BMD’s water business across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Reporting to senior leadership, you will be accountable for safety, commercial performance, delivery capability and client relationships in line with BMD Group standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safe, on‑time and on‑budget delivery of multiple water infrastructure projects.
• Drive profitability, cash flow, claims management and overall commercial outcomes.
• Manage Project Managers, Superintendents and delivery teams, ensuring high‑performing, values‑driven leadership.
• Oversee head contracts, sub‑contracts and supplier agreements, building self‑perform capability.
• Provide visible Zero Harm leadership and ensure OHS and environmental compliance.
• Support tender development, market growth and strengthen partnerships with Melbourne Water and other Victorian authorities.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Senior construction or operations leadership experience with a tier‑1 or tier‑2 contractor.
• Proven delivery background in water infrastructure, preferably with Melbourne Water or Victorian authorities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or portfolios with full commercial accountability.
• Strong commercial acumen in cost control, claims and cash‑flow management.
• Values‑led leadership style aligned with Zero Harm principles.
