Communications Officer

About the role

The City of Moreton Bay is seeking a Communications Officer to join its Corporate Communications team. In this hybrid role you will help inform and engage the community, supporting Council initiatives and delivering clear, consistent messaging across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑quality written communications, including media releases, talking points, web and social media content, newsletters and paid social campaigns.
• Develop and implement integrated communication plans that align with strategic objectives.
• Identify emerging communication issues and contribute to their management.
• Review and edit corporate documents to ensure brand consistency and appropriate tone.
• Monitor media coverage, support crisis communication and measure campaign effectiveness.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing public‑relations and marketing support to Council divisions, the Mayor and Councillors.

Required profile

• Strong writer with the ability to translate complex information into clear, audience‑focused messages.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills and experience working with diverse internal audiences.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to emerging communication issues.
