Commercial Manager – Data Centre Projects

About the role

As Commercial Manager you will lead the commercial function for hyperscale data centre projects, ensuring financial integrity, contractual compliance and risk mitigation throughout the construction lifecycle. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, consultants and vendors to drive cost‑efficient delivery aligned with NEXTDC’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop high‑performing commercial teams, fostering accountability and collaboration.
• Develop commercial, procurement and contracting strategies; support project planning with cost modelling and forecasting.
• Negotiate, administer and manage contracts with contractors, consultants and vendors, handling variations, claims and disputes.
• Manage budgets, cost control, forecasting, financial reporting and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks while ensuring compliance with legal and governance requirements.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and provide strategic commercial advice.
• Drive commercial integrity, cost efficiency and value across project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven leadership and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Extensive commercial management experience on construction projects, preferably data centres or mission‑critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of Australian construction regulations, procurement frameworks and approval processes.
• Advanced contract administration and financial management expertise.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic project environment.
