Certification Quality Control Officer – Quality Planner

About the role

The Certification Quality Control Officer – Quality Planner develops Inspection and Test Plans for production work packages on the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) program, ensuring the inclusion of required Objective Quality Evidence (OQE). The role audits completed work packages, validates compliance with engineering standards, SUBSAFE protocols and corporate policies, and supports safe, on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans with appropriate OQE for CCSM certification.
• Audit completed work packages and OQE to verify compliance with engineering, quality and SUBSAFE requirements.
• Deliver accurate, safe and efficient quality products and services to ASC MCS and the wider Submarine Enterprise.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, WHS, Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity policies.
• Maintain proactive reporting and prompt resolution of quality control matters.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support program milestones, including occasional shift work.

Required profile

• Trade or tertiary qualification in an engineering or technical discipline.
• 3‑5 years post‑qualification experience in defence, heavy industry or other highly regulated sectors.
• Proven experience with quality/certification systems in a dockyard or heavy‑engineering environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams across multiple projects and locations.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory environments.

• SUBSAFE protocol knowledge.

• Understanding of submarine systems and equipment interrelationships.
