Audit Lead - Credit Risk and Models

About the role

The Audit Lead – Credit Risk & Models provides independent third‑line assurance across retail and wholesale credit risk as well as model risk within ANZ’s Internal Audit function. Reporting to the Audit Director, the role leads lower‑to‑medium complexity audit engagements and contributes to more complex audits, delivering evidence‑based conclusions on governance, risk management and control frameworks that support credit decisions and model usage.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute lower‑to‑medium complexity credit risk and model audit engagements in line with the approved Internal Audit plan.
• Support the annual and ongoing audit planning process by providing insights from audit delivery, emerging issues and regulatory developments.
• Identify and scope audit risks, focusing on material credit and model risks, key controls and oversight arrangements.
• Manage audit delivery to agreed timelines and budgets, ensuring discipline when acting as team lead or as part of a larger audit team.
• Apply sound risk judgement and adhere to Internal Audit methodology and Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Collaborate with audit teams and business stakeholders to produce high‑quality audit outcomes and promote a strong speak‑up culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal audit, preferably within credit risk, wholesale credit risk or model risk domains.
• Strong understanding of credit risk governance, risk management practices and control frameworks.
• Ability to assess material risks, manage audit scopes and deliver findings within set timelines and budgets.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to work with audit teams and business units.

Required skills

• Knowledge of internal audit methodologies and global audit standards.
• Understanding of credit risk and model risk concepts.
