Associate Professor – Endodontics

About the role

The University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Dental School is seeking an Associate Professor to lead specialist Endodontics education and research. You will oversee the DCD Endodontics program, shape national training standards, and mentor the next generation of clinicians.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the DCD Endodontics curriculum, assessment, and student experience.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching and safe clinical supervision across entry‑to‑practice, specialist and continuing education programmes.
• Develop and manage a competitive research portfolio, secure external funding and publish in high‑impact journals.
• Supervise higher‑degree and postgraduate research students to successful thesis completion.
• Contribute to academic service through committees, accreditation activities, national guideline development and mentorship of colleagues.

Required profile

• Specialist Endodontics registration with AHPRA (or equivalent qualifications enabling timely Australian registration).
• Completed PhD in Endodontics or a closely related dental/health sciences discipline.
• Proven leadership in clinical teaching, curriculum design and educational innovation.
• Established research record with competitive grant success and high‑quality publications.
• Experience supervising higher‑degree research students to completion.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines, professional bodies and hospitals.

What we offer

• Level D salary range $183,859 – $202,556 per annum plus 17% superannuation and clinical loading.
