Assistant Relationship Manager

About the role

The Assistant Relationship Manager supports Relationship Managers in delivering banking solutions to agribusiness customers across regional markets. This permanent, full‑time position is based in Roma, Queensland, and offers the chance to develop a career within Suncorp Bank’s Business Banking division.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Relationship Manager to manage and grow an assigned portfolio of business customers.
• Respond to client enquiries promptly, maintaining high service standards.
• Administer customer files and ensure all documentation complies with Suncorp Bank policies.
• Extract and analyse financial statements, cash‑flow forecasts and other complex reports to provide accurate assessments.
• Identify acceptable lending risk in line with the bank’s Risk Appetite and aim to maximise profitability.
• Promote a risk‑management culture, escalating issues and risks proactively.
• Follow the complaint‑resolution process to protect service quality and mitigate losses.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering a ‘one‑team’ approach.
• Support safety and wellbeing initiatives and meet all compliance requirements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail when reviewing financial data.
• Excellent customer‑service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Relationship Managers and other teams.
• Understanding of risk principles and compliance standards in banking.
• Commitment to maintaining accurate records and adhering to policies.
