Assistant Accountant – Sydney

About the role

The Pallas Group is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support its growing finance team in Sydney. This full‑time position will be based in the Double Bay head office and offers the chance to work across a dynamic portfolio of commercial real‑estate funds and development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate bank reconciliations for multiple entities.
• Process invoices end‑to‑end, including coding, approvals and system entry.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, set up creditors and process payments.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, preparing financial reports.
• Support BAS preparation and other compliance reporting.
• Maintain loan registers, calculate monthly interest and assist with broker trail payments.
• Action investor transactions such as fund allocations, transfers, redemptions and distributions.
• Liaise with external auditors and provide required documentation.
• Identify control issues, escalate risks and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or similar role.
• Proven experience preparing bank reconciliations and supporting month‑end reporting.
• Hands‑on experience with accounts payable and receivable.
• Exposure to BAS preparation and general accounting compliance.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Experience with MYOB (advantageous but not essential).
