Asset Engineer – Reliability & Maintenance

About the role

Join BUMA Australia's Blackwater team as an Asset Engineer, driving fleet performance through reliability engineering and condition monitoring. You will work closely with the Maintenance Superintendent to implement tech‑driven maintenance solutions across open‑cut mining assets.

Key responsibilities

• Run the site reliability engineering and condition monitoring programmes.
• Collect, record and distribute data required for effective condition‑based maintenance (CBM).
• Operate BUMA’s asset technology platform to improve asset performance.
• Apply root‑cause analysis (RCA) techniques to identify issues and develop engineered solutions.
• Collaborate with OEMs and maintenance teams to enhance work quality, tooling availability and fluid cleanliness.
• Support strategic improvement programmes with the planning function.
• Act as the liaison between the Blackwater site and Brisbane support engineers for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Trade or engineering qualification (mechanical background preferred).
• 3‑5 years of engineering experience with open‑cut mining assets (e.g., Liebherr, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi).
• Strong computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
• Proven understanding of CBM practices and reliability engineering frameworks.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.
