Architect – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract

About the role

Blacktown City Council is seeking a registered Architect to join the City Architect’s Office on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role will provide architectural and urban design leadership for council‑led projects, development assessments and design reviews, shaping the built environment for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead architectural and urban design across a range of council projects, from concept to delivery.
• Coordinate the Council’s Design Review Panel and ensure high‑quality design outcomes.
• Prepare speculative designs for key sites and review development applications.
• Provide expert architectural advice to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of community infrastructure, public spaces and place‑making initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Architecture or Urban Design.
• Registered Architect in NSW.
• Demonstrated high‑level design and presentation skills in architecture, urban design and place‑making.
• Extensive experience working in an architect’s office on project design and delivery.
• Extensive experience preparing and reviewing development applications.
