Airport Planner

About the role

Join Aurecon’s aviation planning and simulation team to deliver strategic airport planning, terminal design, and capacity assessments across Australia and New Zealand. You will work directly with airport clients, applying modelling and simulation to shape efficient, future‑ready airport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver airport planning and advisory projects covering terminal planning, demand/capacity analysis, and level‑of‑service assessments.
• Apply simulation and analytical methodologies to support real‑world planning and operational decisions.
• Use simulation tools (e.g., CAST) to test scenarios and evaluate performance outcomes.
• Translate complex technical analysis into clear, defensible recommendations for clients.
• Lead defined workstreams or components of multidisciplinary airport planning projects.
• Engage with clients through meetings, workshops, and presentations.
• Support proposal development and nurture long‑term client relationships.
• Collaborate with planning, engineering, and advisory specialists across Aurecon.
• Mentor junior planners and analysts, providing technical guidance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in airport or terminal planning, aviation advisory, or related consultancy.
• Hands‑on experience delivering passenger flow, demand, capacity, and level‑of‑service studies.
• Strong analytical capability with confidence handling data, assumptions, and ambiguity.
• Experience communicating technical concepts directly to airport clients.
• Background in aviation planning, civil engineering, architecture, transport planning, or a related discipline.
• Consulting experience is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• CAST (airport simulation platform) or comparable simulation tools.
