Workplace Health, Safety & Environment (WHSE) Manager – APAC

About the role

The Workplace Health, Safety and Environment (WHSE) Manager – APAC will lead the development and continuous improvement of regional health and safety strategies for Cubic Transportation Systems. This senior role ensures the protection of personnel, assets and supports business growth across the APAC region.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage region‑wide WHSE programs aligned with Cubic’s business goals and compliance obligations.
• Promote a proactive risk‑identification and prevention culture.
• Collaborate with global WHSE leaders to align APAC initiatives with global strategies.
• Provide expert WHSE support for major capital and operational projects from bid to delivery.
• Embed safety management systems into project lifecycle planning and conduct safety reviews, audits and readiness assessments.
• Monitor compliance with regional legislation, industry standards and client HSE requirements (e.g., WHS Act, Rail Safety National Law, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Lead risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and implement control measures.
• Maintain HSE registers and drive timely mitigation of identified risks.
• Act as primary WHSE contact for clients, regulators and contractors, representing Cubic at external forums.
• Report WHSE metrics, incidents and compliance outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training programmes for field operations, project teams and leadership.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and managing forward‑looking, risk‑based WHSE programmes.
• Strong knowledge of regional WHS legislation and standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Demonstrated ability to lead safety governance for large‑scale projects.
• Excellent stakeholder management with clients, regulators and third‑party contractors.
• Experience delivering health and safety training and developing safety leaders.
