Senior Financial Accountant – Technical Accounting

About the role

As a Senior Financial Accountant (Technical Accounting) you will join Qantas' external reporting team, delivering financial reporting and governance for the Group. You will support business units with accounting policy application and provide technical advice on key transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed accounting research and consult stakeholders on complex technical matters.
• Prepare accounting papers for significant transactions affecting the Group.
• Partner with the Technical Accounting Manager to identify and propose appropriate accounting treatments.
• Assist in implementing new accounting policies, standards and interpretations.
• Draft Audit Committee papers outlining transaction impacts.
• Develop training materials and deliver accounting training across the Group.
• Provide accounting advisory support to Business Units.
• Support external reporting deliverables for half‑year and year‑end, including ASX lodgements and the annual report.
• Collaborate with the Group Consolidation Manager to improve month‑end segment consolidation processes.

Required profile

• A degree in a business‑related discipline with a finance and accounting focus.
• CA/CPA accreditation or equivalent.
• Strong technical accounting experience in an ASX‑listed corporation or a mid‑tier/Big Four accounting firm.
