Power Systems Engineer – Team Leader

About the role

As a Team Lead Engineer in Aurecon's Queensland Energy team, you will guide a high‑performing group of specialists delivering renewable generation, storage and hybrid projects to the National Electricity Market. You will combine technical expertise with inclusive leadership to shape grid‑connection strategies that support a cleaner, more reliable energy future.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a diverse team of power‑systems specialists, fostering collaboration and continuous learning.
• Provide trusted grid advisory services, helping clients navigate connection strategy, generator performance standards, system strength, and registration.
• Oversee power‑system modelling using industry‑standard tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory and OEM models, ensuring high‑quality outputs.
• Drive excellence in grid‑connection modelling and capability building across the team.
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, digital, advisory and environmental disciplines to co‑create integrated solutions.
• Champion quality improvement by refining modelling approaches and promoting a learning culture.
• Support business development through authentic relationship‑building and strategic recruitment of talent.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in power systems, grid connection, or related consulting, utility, developer or operations roles.
• Proven leadership style that values diverse perspectives and creates an inclusive environment.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualifications and RPEQ registration (or willingness to obtain).
• Commitment to Aurecon’s attributes of curiosity, resourcefulness and collaboration.
• Strong communication skills for client engagement and team mentorship.
