About the role
Mercur is seeking a People Operations Specialist to design and implement deterministic HR scenarios for a fully remote workforce. This contract position focuses on building rigorous, data‑driven processes that evaluate employee performance, benefits eligibility, and lifecycle events.
Key responsibilities
- Develop long‑horizon people‑ops tasks with rubrics that grade agent performance against verifiable ground truth.
- Create detailed scenario libraries for employee inquiries, benefits questions, and policy responses aligned with plan documents.
- Design onboarding, off‑boarding, and leave‑management checklists, including FMLA and ADA determinations.
- Construct HRIS work scenarios for data updates and benefits enrollment based on rule‑based eligibility.
- Ensure all scenarios are challenging, require focused sessions, and are documented for repeatable execution.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of experience in HR operations or people operations.
- Strong written communication with the ability to articulate step‑by‑step reasoning.
- Comfortable handling HR artifacts such as policy responses, offer letters, change forms, and leave decisions.
Required skills
- Hands‑on experience with HRIS platforms (Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, Gusto, Justworks).
- Leave administration expertise (FMLA, ADA).
- Benefits administration and FLSA classification knowledge.
