About the role
As a Legal Secretary you will support the Principal Solicitor in managing civil and criminal matters, ensuring smooth administration and timely communication with clients and stakeholders. The role requires a high level of accuracy, autonomy and a proactive approach within a fast‑paced law firm environment.
Key responsibilities
- Draft routine correspondence, court documents and review/edit letters.
- Respond to emails and liaise with clients, solicitors and other stakeholders.
- Manage basic file administration, including opening files and filing paperwork.
- Prepare and send cost agreements, issue invoices and create briefs for solicitors and counsel.
- Assist with monthly practice statistics and respond to solicitor requests on active matters.
- Conduct legal research as directed by senior solicitors.
- Prepare files for conferences and court appearances, including indexing and observations.
- Support daily scheduling of conferences, court commitments and other tasks.
- Perform ad‑hoc duties as requested by the principal solicitor and practice manager.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience as a legal secretary or paralegal.
- Strong written skills for drafting legal documentation and correspondence.
- Client‑service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail.
- Good understanding of pre‑court and court processes.
- General computer proficiency, including MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work collaboratively, meet tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
- Proactive workload management; legal or administration studies are desirable but not essential.
