Head of Department – Student Engagement (3 positions)

About the role

Spinifex State College is looking for three dynamic leaders to head the Student Engagement department across its campuses. The role focuses on fostering student wellbeing, engagement and achievement, and building strong relationships with students, families and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the department in developing and communicating a shared educational vision centred on quality learning outcomes for all students.
• Embed socially just practices into daily school life and set high performance standards for students and staff.
• Provide and coordinate targeted wellbeing support through case management, individual support plans and proactive intervention.
• Build positive relationships to ensure students feel known, supported and connected within the school community.
• Guide students in exploring pathways, supporting informed educational and career decisions.
• Monitor wellbeing and engagement data to identify students needing additional support.
• Liaise with families, staff and external agencies to coordinate appropriate support services.
• Maintain accurate case notes, records and documentation in line with departmental requirements.

Required profile

• Motivated educational leader with a passion for student success and wellbeing.
• Experience in leading student support or wellbeing programmes in a secondary school setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships with students, families and staff.
• Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.
