About the role
The Category Procurement Specialist joins Qantas' Commercial Procurement team to lead strategic sourcing for key spend areas such as food & beverages, laundry, in‑flight catering and corporate services. Working closely with Category Managers and senior stakeholders, you will shape sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts and ensure supplier performance aligns with business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies that deliver commercial value.
- Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Category Managers and Analysts throughout the sourcing lifecycle.
- Run end‑to‑end sourcing events, including RFPs, negotiations and contracting.
- Manage supplier risk, governance and contract lifecycle, including renewals.
- Identify transformation ideas and group‑scale opportunities.
- Deliver savings, risk mitigation and value creation.
Required profile
- 3–5 years experience in strategic sourcing, category management or procurement, preferably in customer or corporate services.
- Tertiary qualification in procurement, business or a related discipline (CIPS accreditation desirable).
- Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
- Understanding of procurement best practices, supplier performance management and contract negotiation.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects in an outcomes‑driven environment.
