Category Procurement Specialist – Commercial Procurement

About the role

The Category Procurement Specialist joins Qantas' Commercial Procurement team to lead strategic sourcing for key spend areas such as food & beverages, laundry, in‑flight catering and corporate services. Working closely with Category Managers and senior stakeholders, you will shape sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts and ensure supplier performance aligns with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category sourcing strategies that deliver commercial value.
• Collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Category Managers and Analysts throughout the sourcing lifecycle.
• Run end‑to‑end sourcing events, including RFPs, negotiations and contracting.
• Manage supplier risk, governance and contract lifecycle, including renewals.
• Identify transformation ideas and group‑scale opportunities.
• Deliver savings, risk mitigation and value creation.

Required profile

• 3–5 years experience in strategic sourcing, category management or procurement, preferably in customer or corporate services.
• Tertiary qualification in procurement, business or a related discipline (CIPS accreditation desirable).
• Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Understanding of procurement best practices, supplier performance management and contract negotiation.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional projects in an outcomes‑driven environment.
