Agentic Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Agentic Data Engineer to join Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance Data & Digital team in Sydney. The role focuses on designing, building and scaling production‑grade AI‑enabled audit solutions that serve thousands of clients across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex audit workflows into automated, scalable Python and SQL pipelines.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines using Pandas or Polars, handling high‑variance, multi‑client datasets.
• Integrate large‑language‑model (LLM) reasoning with deterministic rule engines and structured output pipelines.
• Implement data quality checks, reconciliation logic and validation frameworks (JSON schema, Pydantic).
• Enhance performance, orchestration and packaging of reusable AI “skills” for consistent deployment.
• Collaborate with audit, asset and engineering teams to ensure transparency, robustness and enterprise‑grade performance.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience building production‑grade workflow, data or AI automation systems in multi‑client environments.
• Strong Python software‑engineering background, including modular design, testing and async workflows.
• Experience with scalable data pipelines, SQL and handling messy datasets.
