Senior Software Engineer II

About the role

Flywire is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to join its Australian team. In this full‑stack position you will lead the design and development of billing and payments services that move hundreds of millions of dollars daily. You will work autonomously, drive cross‑team initiatives, and collaborate with global technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable services using well‑accepted design patterns and SOLID principles.
• Translate the global architectural vision into local execution, launching new high‑risk, high‑volume projects from scratch.
• Design and implement AI‑augmented workflows to improve engineering velocity for the Australian team.
• Evaluate new AI tools, assess ROI and security, and integrate them where beneficial.
• Enhance existing core capabilities and elevate overall engineering practices.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a senior full‑stack engineer, preferably in payments or billing domains.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and work independently.
• Strong architectural foresight and a pragmatic, long‑term design mindset.
• Commitment to building secure, reliable, and highly scalable systems.
• Excellent collaboration skills with distributed teams across time zones.
