Principal Adviser Leadership Development

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Principal Adviser, Leadership Development to shape the future of leadership capability across the enterprise. In this senior, strategic position you will design and deliver high‑impact development experiences that strengthen readiness, effectiveness and pipeline depth at critical leadership levels.

Key responsibilities

• Design, own and continuously improve flagship leadership development programs aligned to succession and critical transition needs.
• Translate emerging workforce, digital and leadership trends into clear capability priorities and scalable solutions.
• Integrate technology, data and experiential learning into innovative development approaches.
• Curate and govern enterprise‑wide leadership pathways that drive capability and performance.
• Establish and maintain standards, governance and quality metrics for all leadership development initiatives.
• Partner with Talent, Learning, Workforce Strategy and senior business stakeholders to ensure integrated, evidence‑based outcomes.
• Drive continuous improvement, simplification and productivity across development solutions.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing enterprise leadership development frameworks and operating models in complex organisations.
• Strong evidence‑based design and evaluation skills.
• Future‑focused mindset with awareness of emerging leadership, workforce and digital trends.
• Proven ability to integrate development programmes with succession, performance and workforce planning.
• Experience establishing governance, standards and measuring value.
